"What are they?" he asked, hardly feeling the word 'man' could ever be applied to this thing that served this man who demanded power. Whatever it was it was a threat for sure. How could it have a skulls' face but still be alive to block the road? Unless this man was some sort of necromancer? ~Chiyo...I'm scared. I freely, for once, admit it. Bargaining won't be an option with this one. He's strong enough to sense our magic abilities and weapons... he's very powerful. I don't like this at all. Even his minions are powerful if they're what I suspect.~

(Sorry for the mistake - my bad. But I could've just modified my last post, y'know. x.x)
Chiyo remained silent outwardly, all traces of relaxation evaporating as her grip tightened around Gala's reins. Her senses were practically screaming 'danger', and meeting this man and his skull-headed minion was doing nothing to ease her worry about the threat facing them - both in the road and in the form of Raiden's troops, waiting in the nearby villages.
~Ach. This isn't good. I think our best course of action would be ta wait and see exactly what he wants from us. What... power, exactly. And what he's willing to do to get it.~

(xD sorry, Serrion told me to delete it. Me not thinking about that did... ^^; again, sorry)
~Right. I agree then... but I'm still uneasy. I'd feel safer if we messaged the rest of the Patrol. Think they'd respond?~ he asked. Sephis paused and then continued to speak, his voice trembling. ~But they should be caught up to us by now, right? Why aren't they here?~

(Lol, no worries Fury. I shouldn't be so grumpy - got stuck in flooding in my city on the way home today and was sat in traffic for the best part of three hours, so I suppose I have an excuse! xD (no excuse for the short post though... *dies*)
She lapsed into a troubled silence.
~I hate ta say it, but I think we might be on our own.~

"Do you or do you not have items of magical nature on your persons?" His horse moved away from the skeleton again, he looked from one to the other. "There is a way for you both to live and pass here safely, if lighter of step."

"I do. I believe Chiyo is free of them," Sephis replied, speaking up. He didn't really consider the charms he carried nor his minor spell weaving skills to really be magic but if it would save them then he could sacrifice it. "A few charms." he admitted. ~Well it's not a lie at least. Charms and my weapons.~

"My weapon is a conductor, but carries no magic in itself. Other than that, I hold no items of power." Chiyo patted the long object slung across her back affectionately.
~Sephis, you sure you want ta give those away?~

~No I don't really want to... but if it saves our skins and lets us move on to worse issues, namely why we were sent out in the first place, then I'm willing to sacrifice it.~ Sephis replied with an almost sigh in his voice.

"If you are trying to come up with a plan on defeating me than I'm affraid you are wasting your time." His horse stepped to face them more directly now. "I am aware that you two are communing through the mind, and if you are putting together a plan or simply stalling for time it is not going to work. I am frail in body but very powerful in mind, and I do not plan to sit around here long enough for help to arrive for you." He lifted his staff and drew upon the spell memorized in his mind, the eyes of the skull on the end of his staff started to glow green. "Show me these objects now, before I have your flesh wither away."

Sephis reached into the collar of his shirt, under any armor he may have donned, and pulled out three charms. Each was carved from wood though it showed no marks of a knife or any tool. All three of them were of an animal: a raven, a wolf, and a bear. Also all three of them were a different colour and on a separate leather strap which held them. "Here they are." He assured the man. The black raven held defense against necromancy, the blue wolf a water spell, and the white bear simply enhanced strength. He had more but these three were at least the expendable ones. "Other than this all I have is my weapon which I will not relinquish for the only spell infused in it is to make it lighter so I may strike more swiftly."
