Below the pair in the upper canopy of the forest, Rafael silently wove together a silence spell, drawing on his tracking abilities to stop Nerinda and Leander from noticing his presence. Satisfied that the spell would function correctly, he turned to Neraika with a rakish smirk. "Well then. Let's go do a little bit of espionage."

"From within?" Nerinda asked him, raising an eyebrow. The serpentine female flew next to him.

Leander nodded, a little dismal. "Yeah. Never would've expected it, really. All I remember of how it started was feeling something... odd. Coming from the top of the island hill. That was it. The next day, we were under attack."

Neraika nodded, smiling slightly. "Aerial or ground?"

"Aerial would suit, I think. If you know how to cast your own silencing spell, we will head separate ways. A divided target is harder to hit." The slightly insane grin fell into place again, before Rafael shook his feathers out and a pulse of dark magic activated the spell. He melted into the background.

Nerinda blinked and glanced forward again, she flew towards where they had come from. "That's odd." The serpentine female flicked her tounge out, tasteing the air. Her eyes seemed to flash differently for a moment, maybe a bit more human looking. "Let's find a place to rest for now... I need to change form for a while."

Leander nodded, finishing off the rest of his deer with a snap. Tilting his wings, his angled for descent.

Nerinda hovered just above the ground, dropping the deer just a bit off from where she wanted to land. Just as her back legs came into contact with the dirt floor, her whole body and fom seemed to flow and change. Within a few seconds there was no longer a full sized dragon, but a human sized being. Now having taken her form, the form she had been born with, she was very different. She resembled an elf, a good six feet tall and very healthy. Her clothes took the shape of pants and a slightly revealing shirt made up of the black scales she had before. She wore nothing to cover her taloned hands and feet. Her hair was long and black and her eyes were still a pupiless red. Two horns curving back poked out of her head from underneath her hair and her teeth were definetly pointed. She kept her large wings, still with a deep green under membrane.

Settling on the soft loam with a gentle clatter, Leander struggled to fold his wings between the spreading branches. "Didn't know you had a humanoid form too - must be useful."

"this is my natural form, my birth form." she explained to the dragon. she had a noticeable accent in her speech now as humanoids could never properly pronounce draconic. "My mother was an elf while my father was a dragon. The mixture of demon blood in both of them grants me to hold my other form longer than most half bloods though."

Leander nodded in understanding. "It must be useful at times, like I said. The only way me and Venus can change forms is through a really complex spell that we can't hold on to for very long. Not a good thing if you're trying to sneak into somewhere as a human if you suddenly morph back into a dragon. Believe me, that is a very awkward situation - and I'm speaking from experience!"

She laughed slightly. "Not many dragons bother learning how to take human form. My father knows how, obviously he had to know how in order to mate with my mother. I hear the blood dragon Serrion learned how by accident. My transformation came to me naturally... Demons are natural shapeshifters."

"I was taught in battle training back home as a youngling, but Venus I assume must've learnt it on her travels. So never paid any attention to what the elders were telling us - she was always in trouble." He chuckled, reminiscing.
"All the elders just wanted her to get out of their hair, but they had a soft spot for her really. A good thing if she was going to take power from her dear old dad when he got fed up. But she never did - wasn't suited to her, leadership. I remember her telling me she'd much rather travel around and help out where she could than sit and die of boredom at home."
Leander tilted his head. "I think a lot of dragons are like that really. Wanderers."

Nerinda nodded in agreement, the half dragon sat beside her dead deer. "My father, before he finally established domain over the tower had been a wanderer... He travelled somewhere new every chance he got... I think really it was because he wanted to expand his mind and strength... Him and the female he has told me so much about were the same, hungry for strength, yet he didn't want to see her a rival... That might be why he really wandered so much, he needed to stay away from her so he wouldn't start seeing her as an enemy... It was in hs travels that he met my mother, and brought her back to the land which is now the wastes, and the land of his old clan. I was born, he lost all relationship with the other female dragon he had really always felt love for... She hated him after he took my mother as a mate... But even still the two of them went to war, not against eachother but against a terrible evil known as the Order of the Silver Claw... There they fought to save all this land from this evil... I was born then, only a baby being taken care of by my mother while my father was at war. My father fought the evil along with his rider, who happens to have been my uncle. When my father fought the leader of the Order's army, the God-Demon dragon, his rider was slain. As I am sure you know he should have died too, yet he was strong enough to kill the God-Demon... In order to survive he bound a powerful demon to his heart in order to stop the wound from his dead rider from killing him." She paused for a second. "My mother did not know he survived, she just heard that her brother had been slain and she could only assume that when my father dissapeared from the battlefield that he had left to find a place to die... She died from grief at loosing her mate and my father returned to find her dead... He then dissapeared again, leaving me in the care of others loyal to him... He was gone for years, coming back for a small time to make sure I was well, and his tower was safe, then would dissapear again. It was not until I was at about the age of an adult that he came back and stayed, only to leave again. I know that when he left this time it was to be with a third female, another dragon... He started a family with her and that's how my sister was born... His third mate died and that's when it became too much for him to bare. He came back to the tower and gathered his army, fighting any foe he could name and consequencly he attacked the first female he had ever loved... He accused her of his third wives death, and even of my mother's, though his army was held back by hers, his thrist for blood was not quenched. He knew that there was one more power that could raise his own so he got his army to attack this land... He slaughtered both the Blood Dragons and the Moon Dragons..." She stopped with that and felt suddenly very weak... She looked down at the ground, very sad suddenly, but a shadow had just been relieved from her soul.

Quiet contemplation swan in Leander's emerald eyes. "Maybe things do just get too much sometimes..." With a sigh, he leaned back against the trunk of the tree, tail curling neatly behind the trunk. "Maybe one day it'll lessen and your father'll return to being the wanderer he once was."
