The great ball of fire known as the sun awakens from its slumber as it appears over the horizon, it moves at a slow, steady pace and the light that escapes from it appears to set the land ablaze with a golden glow. Once it has finally released itself from the clutches of the skyline it shines brighter than any other star in all its golden glory. This sight always puts Star Rise in an amiable mood but it didn’t always last since her mood had a tendency to change with every wind. A small smile played on her silvery lips and just as she was about to check herself she thought better of it and let a full grin form on her beautifully sculpted face. The dawn is a pleasant sight. A new day, a new beginning. She thought and just as she was about to admire the sight further a muffled shuffling sound came from below the large rock she had perched her magnificent silver body upon. Star Rise looked down but her nose caught the scent of the creature before her grey eyes could, a white rabbit. A loud rumbling noise came from Star Rise’s stomach and she knew that it was complaining for the lack of nourishment. The rabbit let out a shriek of terror and Star Rise chuckled.
“Relax you silly creature. Can you not see that I am a Dragon? What good would a scrawny thing like yourself provide me? Hardly worth the effort. You have no meat on your bones that could satisfy my hunger so away with you!” She commanded it and after her speech (which would have no benefit upon the rabbit) the rabbit had good sense to scurry away as fast as its legs would allow it.
After Star Rise’s encounter with the rabbit her stomach began to growl louder begging for some sort of food but her mind was set on something larger than a rabbit since it would hardly even be considered a snack for a creature of her size. Star Rise reluctantly rose to her feet in a graceful manner that came naturally to her although spectators may argue that it was practiced but this is not true. Star Rise was rather large for her age reaching over 80ft in length and 170ft in wingspan, it is possible that she may grow a little larger as she ages. Unable to contain her hunger any longer, Star Rise leapt from the rock and allowed herself to fall for a few seconds as she stretched out her wings, once the wind was under them and had a firm hold she flapped them repeatedly as her body soared upwards to touch the sky. It was a wonderful feeling to fly and just because she was a Dragon and should be used to it by now did not mean that the sensation did not bring her pleasure nor that she did not feel it anymore in fact it was the complete opposite. Once high enough she was able to proceed to gliding over the lands in a perfect rhythm and even though the sight was rather magnificent she had not forgotten her reason for acting. Her having tremendous eyesight came in handy for spotting prey and so it was not long before she found a suitable prey which would satisfy her hunger, a deer. Even from the sky she could see the lone, brown, white speckled doe grazing peacefully below. A buck would have been most agreeable but this doe would do just as nicely. She thought before she arched her lean but heavily armoured body into a dive, her mouth watering as she was already imagining the taste of the sweet, tender meat on her tongue.
