Often confused with the typical idea of Elves in general, it is only fair to be aware that Elves are not natural to the DW world and are indeed different than the often preconceived notion of what they are like. Just like Oriental Dragons (mentioned in the Dragons entry of course), Elves come from places far away and thus are diverse. Thus far there are very few, maybe just a handful, in the world of DW.
Typically an Elf can be distinguished by their slanted eyes, sharp features, and pointed ears. Elves in the world of DW are bound to a single element of their choosing (an example being Zokora is bound to crystals hence she is of the Earth classification) and will become adept in magic involving said element. Often it is one element but a sub category of it. Again the example is that the Crystal Dragon Rider Zokora is an Earth Elf but she uses magic only involving her crystals as well as some light abilities due to the crystals. Magic is limited only by creativity and the site rules.
Elves tend to be aloof and keep mostly to themselves save for a select few who find themselves in leadership positions due to their undeniable loyalty and valor. They also are known to be on the tall side so their long legs give them the advantage with speed. This speed is useful both in practical terms (makes for good messengers) and in battle terms (speed in a fight). In the world of DW, Elves have no qualms with killing especially in battle. It is individual preference on how just like it is with a Dragon. Even a god can fight an ant and make it last and suffer so the individual's mindset plays a role. Most prefer a quick kill unless provoked.
Appearance wise, Elves are as mentioned before:
- On the tall side (being often a foot taller than a Human)
- Distinguishable pointed ears (Shape and size varies a little depending on the type of Elf and perhaps on how much their magic influences them)
- Long hair (Males and females prefer to let their hair grow. Males will keep it in a pony tail and keep it shorter than females do of course. Females like to have it down their backs and only cut it when it grows past a preferred point)
- Slanted eyes (Elf eyes are piercing in appearance and are slanted slightly as compared to Humans)
- Armor and or finery (It seems the Elves of the DW world prefer to have armor and other sorts of worked metal on them. When not wearing armor is is typical of an Elf to have jewelry. This applies for male and females as males will wear earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings the same as a female Elf would just in a different style and colour. Females seem to prefer silver while males enjoy gold. However as always this is not limiting)
[Feel free to add]
They posses strong magical abilities such as sensing the energies of plants (druidism), manipulation of light and heat (often twisted to a form of pyromancy), and other things besides. Elves have a high capacity to learn due to their long life span. While they will not live quite as long as a Dragon they are still much longer lived than one may at first believe.
As mentioned before, or just simply known prior, Elves had a much different aging scale than humans. While an Elf may look only about twenty he or she could be hundreds of years. A general rule of thumb is simply to ask the Elf in question. If they don't wish to reveal their true age then you must go off of their appearance.
