Alright as said in my mass PM I've started to collect questions to put up here. Currently it's a mess xD I'm just posting the submissions to get them all in one place before I re-organize. Help would be appreciated!
Note: Some words in the paragraphs are links! Look out for them as they lead to the rules, DND's, book, etc. as references to the question answers.
1:
Question: How do I register correctly to join the RP?
Answer: First, you have to pick what type of character you want to start out with in the world of Dragon Wars. Options include dragons (the most popular, not surprisingly!), riders, spirits, and 'other' characters. Usually, most newbies begin with a dragon character. For the others, it is best to wait until you are used to the site. After this, you fill in the form in the correct character registration section to the best of your ability, and wait for admin approval. Easy as. ^^
2:
Q. How many dragons am I allowed to have?
A. As many as you want but we advise you to only have few unless you know you will have time to RP with them all. However please be sure to still follow the rules and things mentioned in the site Do Not Do's so you don't overload admins.
3:
Q.Who should I ask if I have a problem or question that isn't here?
A. If you ask anyone they will try and help you but its best to talk to a staff member as they have been here longest and have the most experience.
4:
Q.How many lines does does a RP post have to have?
A. We don't put pressure on how many lines your post has to be, but we would prefer them to be at least a full line. One liners (as they are often called) are to be avoided but will not be punished.
5:
Q. What sort of dragons are you allowed? Chinese, western, etc?
A. Most dragons on this site are western style ones, (4 legs, two wings, tail ending in a spike) but others are allowed. We ask you think within reason and avoid Dragons that would be considered a breed of Wyvern as here Wyverns are dumb, mindless, and brutal creatures without the ability to speak or figure out problems. It is not us being against Wyverns or their Riders (as some would want), it is just that this is how they are in the world of DW and in the book and we must follow it and keep it consistent.
6:
Q. What person are you supposed to RP in and in what tense?
A. Most sites (including this one) RP in third person and in the past tense. We don't permit asterisk RPing either and you MUST use proper punctuation.
Ex of a good post:
Sheakria snarled and bared her long teeth, blood dripping from them like falling red rain. It pooled together in a puddle just beneath her body and ran forward a little until it touched the body of the dead deer. She smirked and crunched the bones between her jaws and was satisfied by the sound. "Decent hunt," she proclaimed as the red blood continued to cover her green scales in a showy display of battle-ready skill.
BAD POSTS:
Hikaru: Where are the deer? *looks around* Oh there is one!
---
Hikaru looks to the corner of the building, his claws clicking on the stone. He tilts his head and takes in all the scents. He smiles and says to the hatchling dragon beside him "they'll be here soon" then moves on.
7:
Q: What style do you expect as far as RPing goes?
A: Standard English RPing. This means NO godmoding, powerplaying, etc. This also means using quotations marks and punctuation for speaking. Exceptions being thoughts are italics and mental messages use '~' marks instead of quotes.
Ex:
"Hello there," the dragon said with a friendly smile. <--- Quotations are properly used. This is speaking out loud to another person/thing.
~Are you alright? I heard a crash by the Moon Dragons' mountain. I don't think that bodes well.~ <--- mental speech
I wonder what's going on? Are my friends in danger? ...I can't abandon my mother like this to go see. Damn I'm confused! <---thoughts that nobody else can hear, only the character themselves.
8:
Q: The age system on this site for the Dragon characters is a little bit confusing. Care to explain a little please?
A: Well our age system works off 'moon's. Typically this would represent a period of one month, however since Dragons live a very long time (^^ and I was dumb when I made this system up in 2006), it means a year. So a Dragon who was 100 (this age is usually the age most characters are since it is not a hatchling but just barely a matured adult) is actually 100 years old. Also for lengths we run off a system that measures from tip of the tail (not including tailspikes) to the tip of the snout when the Dragon is stretched out. The largest dragons on the site (Ebony and Gaulroach of course) are about 50 feet in length. Heights are normally left unsaid since it messes with proportions and such but that would be measured from the ground to the Dragon's shoulder.
