The elder dragon Galla drew breath when she saw her daughter flying over the forested city. She coughed slightly and raised her head, the blue dragon landed in front of her and gave a polite greeting nod. The green Galla moved her head forward and lovingly nuzzled Laida's neck. "You are safe... It worried me so much knowing where you were headed."
Laida only smiled and nuzzled her mother back. "You know I am one of the strongest of our clan."
Galla nodded and smiled back. "Yes, but that land is full of all kinds of dangerous creatures. It is not the wyverns or demons roaming the wastelands that worry me, but the evil dragon Gaulroach commands... What if you ran into one of his generals? Or even the Lady Sheakria? You could not fight her or outrun her."
"Well I am fine are I not?" Laida gave a snort and looked up at the elder determindly. "And it is just like they said, the most of the waste, in a perfect circle, is covered in some strange wall of darkness. It goes higher than any of us could fly and there's no opening at all. Considering we've seen so many of Gaulroach's followers fleeing the spot, I don't think Gaulroach created this, or if he did it was some kind of horrible mistake. We didn't dare enter the darkness, but we could see things moving around within."
"What kind of things?" Galla raised an eyebrow at that.
Laida played at the dirt at her feet with a talon and shook her head, seeming equally confused. "Shadows... Shadows of creatures. The the wall was all shadows we could see them, they were even darker than shadow... Demons of some sort maybe."
Galla turned her head towards the direction that Gaulroach's wasteland stood fromt he Shining Scales' city. Even from this distance you could see it, the land of pure darkness that went higher than the eye could see.
"Lady Galla?" Asked a voice bringing her to attention again. To dragons walked her way, both male. One of them was unknown to her, just another dragon within the clan, his scales were Desert yellow. The other was older and she immedietly recognized the tarnished bronze scales of Yietaligor, another of the clans elders.
She gave her best smile to Yietaligor, though in her heart she still couldn't stand his pressense. Yietaligor had always proved to be too violent a dragon, the first to plan out every attack even before they knew all the details of reason. Though it had been the younger dragon who had spoke her name, her attention obviously went to the bronze. "Elder Yietaligor. What brings you out of your cave." The last part was almost a sneer, almost. The elder usually only ever left the cave he had taken for himself except in gatherings of the clan elders, it was believed he spent his days planning attacks for every possible scenerio or enemy. He was an gifted general to be sure, but only half his plans were ever finished, usually he gave up one plan to work on one dubbed more important by himself. And those that were finished very often were discarded by the rest of the elders, Yietaligor was only too enthusiastic in sacrificing humans and dragons if he believed it would give them certain victory.
"News lady Galla, news." The elder hissed lowly. "Dire news of the utmost importance. It appears our most dangerous enemy has reapeared again. Our alliance with Ebony, however short, is over."
Galla snorted and rose her head, looking down at the other elder. Yietaligor was older than she, but Galla was the larger dragon, and had proved herself in battle many times before. As a younger dragoness she had been much like her daughter. "Calm down please, I canot understand what you are speaking of."
Yietaligor snorted and shook his head violently in return. "The Lady Ebony is scum. The traitoris bitch has allowed Gaulroach refuge in her tower. He-"
"Elder Yietaligor you will not speak of Lady Ebony in such a way!" Galla snapped at him, immedietly silencing the violent, if at heart cowardly, bronze dragon. "The lady Ebony commands much more respect than almost any other being in the land and you will bite your own tounge off before you call her such a name." The green dragoness growled this, she was in a huff and all others were completely still right now. The bronze elder, the yellow warrior with him, her own daughter, and any other ebing within earshot. Galla attempted to calm herself. "Whether or not this is true I will not stand for anyone speaking baddly of the lady Ebony. If such things are true we will not end our peace with her without learning her reasons for allowing the tyrant dragon refuge. This only furthers our believe that this wall of darkness is not his doing and if he was forced into hiding within the safety of his most powerful enemy than we should be worried about this more so than Gaulroach's location. I am certain the Lady Ebony has very good reasons for what she has done."
Galla turned to the young dragon beside Yietaligor. "Warrior?"
The yellow dragon stiffined. "Yes lady Galla?"
"Prepare a host of guards for me, I plan to travel to the Ivy tower at once." She spoke, holding her head high. She looked to her daughter Laida. "Tell the council of elders the news of... Gaulroach's whereabouts. But express the fact that I forbid any mention of breaking the alliance until I have returned." She spoke sternly.
Both the yellow dragon and her daughter bowed quickly and flew off, in different directions.
Galla then turned to the other elder and shook her head. "Do get some rest, heavens know you need it. Do not join the other elders until you're certain your thoughts are with you." She then left, not bothering to wait for a reply. She knew the elders couldn't start a war without her word. They would wait for her return... This would be her second journey to the ivy tower, the first one had been pleasent but... Knowing who else would be there made her fear it almost as much as traveling to the Dark Dragon's own tower... She had seen Gaulroach only once before, with her own eyes when he came to her clan's city to speak with her elders... Politics, pointless politics for she knew her clan would never give up their war against him and she knew he would not stop in his mad crusade of power. She remembered just being in the same room with him, it had sent a chill through her very soul to hear him talk, to see him tred the very ground she had to... It baffled her how the young Serrion could stand so strong after who knows how many encounters with the tyrant... She did not want to know how Ebony could stand having him within her own home... But then again both those dragons were much stronger than her, she knew her soul could never match up to theirs.
Laida only smiled and nuzzled her mother back. "You know I am one of the strongest of our clan."
Galla nodded and smiled back. "Yes, but that land is full of all kinds of dangerous creatures.
