It was still dark as Venus ventured to the edge of the forest, testing out the limitations of the block.
~It seems to hold off up until the edge of the forest, Venus.
The dragoness nodded, satisfied.
~That should be alright then - this way I won't get under Talana and Serrion's feet while they're trying to sort out their territory again. Wouldn't want to get in the way.~
Settling in her customary place against the trunk of a tree, she allowed herself to drift.
Until suddenly she felt what resembled a telepathic punch.
Jerking upright, Venus recognized it for what it was and held up a taloned hand in front of her eyes, tracing the pattern or glowing gold and silver that had appeared with a troubled gaze.
~Clan tattoos.~ She mused to herself. ~We all used to get them at birth with the clan I was born to. But why now...?
Understanding hit like a tonne of bricks.
~Oh hellfire.~
Reaching out for Leander, she found him occupied. Cursing quietly in dragontongue, she got to her feet quickly.
You just couldn't get the help these days. She'd just have to suffice being blocked from Isandre for a while then.
Catching a reflection in a pool of water, Venus took in the glowing lines swirling down her face and neck as if they had been etched in with the finest glass pencil.
The runes on her horns were up again too. That couldn't be good.
~No alternative, then. Darn.~
Shaking her head, worried, she contemplated what could possibly have happened to set off her clan markings.
~The island. That's all I can think of. Maybe down in the catacombs? What if Rafael's up to his old tricks again??~
Growling at the thought, Venus went to unfurl her wings, but paused. She had promised she'd stay nearby...
But this was important.
Reaching out to Serrion and Talana from where she was on the edge of the Blood Dragon Territory, she simply said:
~Something's come up, and I have to head out again.~
That'd do.
Crouching to take off, Venus looked up at the blank night sky. No sign of the new moon yet, so hopefully it wasn't Rafael after all. Maybe something else? The spirits?
She couldn't afford to be complacent - after all, she and Leander hadn't finished the last check of the island thanks to the feathered dragon's appearance.
Time to go and check things out then.
