Cloaked by his telltale raven feathers and illuminated from above by a single light spell, Rafael stood silent and still, focused intently on a clear piece of onyx set into the wall. Lifting a clawed hand, he extended one pitch talon, and dragged it slowly down the surface of the stone.
The horrifying shriek of protest and the accompanying burst of sparks from the rock covering up the muttering of a spell.
And a mist cleared away from the stone, revealing an empty, cloudless night sky. The scene was only disturbed by the silhouette of a dragon, flying at top speed and obviously tense.
A pained roar cut through the still air.
Rafael smirked.
So, the young Lord had been informed of his actions, both past and present.
With a click of talons, the scene changed to a group of dragons gathered in a clearing, two of them misty and insubstantial.
The raven dragon's eyes stretched then narrowed with a hiss.
Even though he had allowed his quarry to escape, he would not allow her the luxury of a peaceful recovery. Settling back, he remained observant of what was playing out on the seeing stone before him, but allowed the cogs in his mind to whirl.
No. He would wait for her to come to him. That way, he would be ready and be able to finally exact his vengeance.
A smirk spread across his face as Rafael's eyes gleamed with a slightly insane light.
"Devades."
The simple order rang out in the quiet air, and the cowled figure immediately materialized.
"Yes, Master? What do you wish of me?"
"Gather the others. We will be moving shortly."
"Yessir."
