{Thought I'd just give you guys the Prologue of meh scrapped draft. This isn't going to used, but just for the sake of it, all mentioned charries belong to me, as does the idea ^^}
Prologue – Dawn of Flame
Through the mists of time, right back to the beginning…
The earth rumbled with frequent quakes, and volcanoes erupted throughout the world.
In one particular place, the barren earth finally crumpled under the pressure from the heated magma below, and yet another volcano is formed, spouting lava from its mouth. As the early eruptions cease, boiling ash and rock cool, solidifying to form caves, plateaus and hall like caverns in the side of this new fire filled mountain.
Many seasons later, a forest has grown around the volcano, which has long been dormant. A great lake has formed in the midst of this forest, the mass of water condensing as super-heated steam from one of many eruptions is caught in a temperature drop. Its undisturbed surface reflected the damage that multiple explosions from the magma mountain have wreaked.
Beside that clear water, sat a dragon. A majestic creature, its iridescent silver scales shimmer gently both with their own internal light, and the light of full moon. Thick ivory spines run down its back, decreasing in size towards the tail. Two claws form the wingtips, which complete the basic bony frame of the wings, protecting the essential metallic grey membranes needed for flight. Curious icy blue eyes look around, taking in immediate surroundings, wondering, maybe even…waiting?
Whatever this dragon is waiting for, it apparently arrives. The scaly ridges of enforced bone above its eyes rise, and the eyes themselves settle on something beyond the trees. The dragon shifts its scales and rises to its full, immense height. Judging from its size, it is around a century old, wise and experienced in the ways of its kind. But not even this dragon knows all the secrets of its ancient and well-established race. That is what it's here to find out.
It steps forwards, unfolding its wings - not in the clumsy way a novice flier would, but in the cool, calm manner of a true professional. Tensing powerful thigh muscles, the silver dragon leaps into the air, rising on a swift updraft, before gliding slowly towards a far peak in the distance.
It roared as it flew - those who were adept in dragontounge would have been able to pick out a single word from that roar.
“Firemount!”
