Tia sighed inwardly and focused her attention on the needle. Lifting away the locks controlling the magic curling in the corridor, the dragoness narrowed her eyes. It vaporised in a swell of power.
The dragoness once again locked eyes with Tyvra.
"No-one needs to get hurt. Either tell me what you want or leave."
The impasse was frustrating; Tia was unsure about her mysterious visitor. He seemed grimly determined and yet simultaneously there was something uncertain about him. She was about to attempt to reach out to him again when the shadows in the tunnel shuddered. Tia paused, instinctively retracting her aura slightly in the presence of something so dark.
Thanthero slid from the darkness lining the wall, remnants of the shadow transport spell lingering. Yellow eyes took in the scene, pupils reduced to pinpricks swinging from Tyvra to Tia. After a few seconds the assassin snorted, eyes shifting back to normal proportions.
"With you bleeding this much magic, Tia, I was expecting an invading army."

A chill ran through Tyvra's body, inching its way down his spine. He shook his body much in the way a wet dog would to dry itself. Ah there ye are Thanthero. About time.
He growled. "Not an army I'm afraid but I'm sure I can put up a fight if that's what yer wanting." The thief held himself stiffly. "I need to get something from here and I'm not leaving without it."

Tia began drawing in her magic, layering it against her skin and tangling it in the beads and bones tied into her furry mane.
"A friend of yours, Than?"
Thanthero answered without taking his eyes off the other dragon.
"You could say that." The assassin narrowed his eyes, easily dropping back into the mannerisms which were so ingrained during the time he worked with Tyvra on a few missions. "So, thief, what are you here to steal this time?" He snorted. "The old man better not be plotting, or I'll go back and kick him into the next hell."

Tyvra didn't back down. His gaze remained locked on Thanthero's.
"Well I don't think it fits into yer description of 'plotting' but he's certainly up to something." he replied cryptically. A grin settled on his face. "You're free to kick him into the next hell anyway. I won't mind in the slightest."
An angry red ember burned in the mark on his cheek and the thief winced. "What's it to ye anyway? Since when do ye care what I steal or when?"

Thanthero rasped a dry chuckle at the suggestion he should once again put Charon in his place; however, all humour disappeared at Tyvra's last comment. His eyes narrowed and a single ivory fang gleamed in the half light.
"I believe I have a right to care when the old man could be trying to escape the contract I tied him to. Even more so when you try to steal from someone who I consider a friend of at least two centuries, hm?"
Tiamat rolled her eyes, smiling.

"Well pardon me for trying to save my own scaley skin," Tyvra practically purred. He held up a hand as if he might reach it into his pouches again but he knew Thanthero would figure out that it was just a bluff. After all, Thanthero knew his thief tools almost as well as he did.
"Charon's still a bossy bastard. There's not much I can do about that. He and I struck a deal." His eyes narrowed and he exposed a fang under his curled lip. "And I expect to keep it."

Thanthero didn't even watch the hand, fully aware that Tyvra was bluffing as he suspected. The other fang-point glittered in a half-snarl, half-smirk.
"He promised you something, right? Because he knows I can invalidate his little maneouvering, he's offered you something you really want."

"Aye." Tyvra replied. He took the hand out of threat position and pointed to his cheek. "Removal of this little beauty and all the attachments with it in exchange for one simple thing. If ye'd both just move out of my way I'll take it and be on my merry way back to the underworld. Out of both of your hair."

Thanthero rolled his eyes.
"Apologies, thief; I know you want the mark gone, but me and Tia here will need to know what it is you've been sent to take."
Tia nodded in agreement, tail swishing. The dragoness moved forwards and addressed Tyvra.
"There's all sorts in my home. Some spells could be lethal in the hands of Charon. There must be another way to gain your freedom than this, surely. Than, can't you do anything?"

He glared hotly at Tiamat. "You don't know a thing about Charon, doran. Stay out of it. Best you just pretend you never saw me. His deals are a bitch to try to get by."
Tyvra's tail started to lash back and forth. Frustration was setting in and he could practically hear Charon laughing at him by this point. "It's just a spell. I know you have it and I know it's worked in the past. What do you care if you've already used it and no longer need it?"

Tiamat's brows descended into a frown, whilst a warning growl escaped Thanthero. The dragoness shook her heads, beads and bones jangling.
"On the contrary, I've had numerous encounters with your contractor; I know well enough his methods, having had to patch Than up on occasion after their little 'meetings'.
Thanthero snorted.
"Tiamat has been helping me fight against the old man as support for years, thief. And we both know that spellwork isn't as simple as that. Since you won't tell us which bloody spell you want, how are we to know if it's already been used or not, hm?"
Tia shook her head.
"Enough, Than. If he needs some magic doing, I offer my services. But none of my work is going to Charon, I'm afraid. And that's that."

His skin was itching again. There was still magic present in the tunnels of course. Tyvra hated the feeling of being at a stalemate so he heaved a sigh and looked directly into Thanthero's eyes. "I believe you'll know exactly what spell when I mention the following name."
There was a pause as if he feared the assassin's reaction. Then the tension snapped. "Tatsu."

Startled, Tiamat sank back on to her haunches, mind racing a mile a minute. The reanimation spell? What could Charon possibly want with that? The many possibilities were nothing short of horrific.
Thanthero appeared outwardly calm as he allowed the information to sink in; but the shift in his eyes said everything about his true reaction. Each of the considerable instincts the assassin possessed were screaming at him, the same conclusion pounding through his veins: this was not good. When he spoke, the words were sharp and perfectly enunciated.
"Tyvra. I believe a full explanation is in order."

His eyes darted from side to side for a moment as if he were being watched and his voice dropped. "Ye'll want to make sure the old man can't hear first. He'd do nothing short of killing me if he knew I was going to spill."
He waited until he felt the itch rise up again, signalling the use of magic from either Tiamat or Thanthero before continuing. "Charon wants it. Didn't tell me why. He told me he'd remove the mark from me if I got it for him. That means no spying on me, no torturing me from afar, and essentially is one single step away from freedom completely. It wasn't something I could pass up."
He let them absorb it. "The old bastard can bring people back. I'm living proof of that...but he can't bring them back once they're so far gone. I think he's planning a full spirit revive. The spell's a loophole around Thanthero, or so I suspect."

Thanthero swore violently. Whilst the assassin was raging, Tiamat tightened her control on the bubble of magic voiding out the tunnel from the outside.
"I'm assuming he didn't mention who he wanted to revive?"
