Immediately he perked up, excited due to his stomach needing to be filled and in hearing she didn't mind he could only hunt birds. "Sounds good to me! If you want something else let me know... I'll do my best to help out though it may not end well." He sideglanced at a flicker of movement and dismissed it with a toss of the head. As usual his mind picked up on the slightest trace of spirit energy.

Aisling nodded.
"No, no, I really do fancy birds for breakfast today! Don't worry, we'll get something!" A thought occurred to her as she turned to take off; Aisling cringed internally and turned back to her mentor.
"Erm... Tiamat? Did you want anything?"
A knowing smile twinkled as the wind ruffled the dragoness's fur. "Don't you worry about me. I can go much longer without eating than the pair of you. Off you go - those birds are waiting for you. Terrified, but still waiting!"

He bowed his head in appreciation and then like a serpent darted into the air. It was still a strange sight to see in a land where most dragons had such a rapidly different body structure than his as he hovered in the air. Aleiko's large ears swiveled in an attempt to find the location of a bird in a place where their songs could be heard all around in echos and choruses.

Aisling followed, take-off a little wobbly with the rising wind but stable enough to suffice. She fluttered up to the same level as her friend, eyes narrowed on the tree line surrounding them in a swathe of green.
~Hmm... sparrows?~
On the ground, Tiamat closed her eyes and basked in the sun, mulling over the report she had been sent that morning. Whether it was truth or not would remain to be seen. But still... it would be nice to see him again.

~Sounds pleasant to me!~ he agreed. ~I think I've got a fix on some. There's a tree nearby with a cluster of a few nests. Other than that there should be some just darting back and forth in the air. Ready to give it a shot?~ A thought crossed his mind and Aleiko couldn't help but ponder it. What news did Tiamat mean? Was it good or bad? he wondered. She seems distracted.

~Yep! I think I'll try a few of the free-flying ones. Should be a good test for speed. Ready... go!~
Aisling locked her wings and propelled herself forwards, twisting in the air and reaching out with open claws for the darting birds.
Tiamat smiled as her apprentices began the hunt. 'They are progressing well, both of them. The damage from the security spells was limited by their own capabilities; where it would incinerate an enemy, they were only burnt. Good. Good.'

He watched her dart off and then swiveled his ears towards the tree he'd pointed out which he silently floated by the base of. Fortunately his body shape was good for something, particularly wrapping around the trunks of trees. So he simply climbed like that and snapped up a bird that he'd targeted. This one had been one without eggs. He didn't want to deprive a poor chick of its mother so he'd been nice enough to check.

(Awwww! Aleiko! *hugs him*) Aisling was careful to miss the smaller female birds, instead going for the males - of which there were an abundance. She missed one by inches and ended up almost rolling into a tree. She pushed off the trunk, flying back into the fray of feathers and fangs. It had been raining, Tiamat noticed, as her eyes caught the droplets rolling easily from pine needles to drip from the floor. They congregated in puddles, collecting in the dips of the forest ground. 'How convenient.' The dragoness stood and shook of her fur, wandering to one of the larger puddles and settling herself before it. One talon swirled the still water and mauve eyes began to glow with magic before sliding shut beneath the haze of future-sight. 'Now then, Thanthero... where are you?'

(xD he's a little cutie <3 I love him already as well)
After he'd caught that bird, the rest in the tree had scattered. He uncurled himself and landed roughly on the ground after which he shot into the air in pursuit. Not done eating yet...get back here! he complained in a quick thought. Alieko had to try hard to avoid flying into trees. Though he could easily twist in between them his mane tended to tangle as well as the fur on his tail's end.
Rather than an answer from scrying, a voice came from behind Tiamat. "Looking for Thanthero, Tia?" The tone was familiar and had been for years. Tatsu smiled as he glanced up to the sky and saw her two apprentices chasing birds. "I remember when we used to do that."

Aisling snapped her wings shut to avoid a branch and somehow managed to take down her first bird. She grinned triumphantly - the Doran would be proud of how she'd improved after she'd chosen to leave the tribe. And then she found herself tangled with some late-falling leaves, opening her wings again to escape and land with a soft 'oof.'
Tiamat smiled as she looked away from the picture shimmering in the puddle, magic breaking off and returning her eyes to their normal shade of purple. "I wondered if you'd be here this afternoon, Tatsu. And yes, I received news of that rogue this morning - said he's coming south and I was mulling over whether or not he'd pay a visit..." She followed his eyes up to her apprentices dancing - a little clumsily - between the trees. Her turned soft.
"Yes... chasing birds always was a fun one. How many centuries has it been, I wonder?"

"Quite a few," Tatsu answered with a smile. "Seems you somehow managed to stumble upon an Eastern dragon? How in the world did that one happen?" Feeling a little off subject he thought about Thanthero for a moment or two then nodded. "I think he will. After all since when has Thanthero ever managed to not do what he 'may or may not' do? When he says he might come it means he's going to without a doubt be there."
Aleiko snapped and instead of catching a bird, caught a branch in his jaws. He spit it-and its leaves- out and pouted. This wasn't going well. ~Any luck Aisling?~

"Yes... Aleiko is a very good student. Smart, and a quick learner. He's practically caught up with Aisling. She's been with me longer, but both show equal potential. He has strong spirit-sight and magic. She... well, she's more like me. Shaman talents, maybe."
The water of the puddle rippled as a quiet breeze blew through, ruffling her mane and fur.
"And you're probably right about Than." Her smile widening. "He just enjoys messing with us, I think." Her gaze returned to the form of her long-time friend, and she changed topic abruptly. "This could be a stupid question, but do you still want me to try and return you to a body?"
Aisling smiled up at Aleiko from where she was lying flat on her back, wings sprawled. ~Sort of. I've got one, but then I crashed.~

~Well that's better than me I suppose!~ he replied with a laugh. ~I got one from the tree but when I tried to chase another...well I truthfully got a mouth full of branches. Blech!~
Tatsu tilted his head, the movement making his misty shape sort of waver. "It's not a stupid question Tia... You know I've always wanted to return to the land of the living as more than just this. I can stay longer now, true, but it's not the same nor will it ever be. However the only thing I can really ask of you is to not obsess over it because it's no easy task."

Aisling chuckled, getting to her feet and dusting away the dirt gathered from the forest floor. ~We'll get it eventually!~ The jade dragoness took off again, rolling towards the tree and snatching her second sparrow from mid-air. One more, and she'd have breakfast.
"I'm not obsessing," she replied primly, but soon relaxed into a smile. "But I think I might've done it. I finished the spell this morning."
(If that's all right? xD)

(fine by me!)
Tatsu's eyes effectively widened. "You...you've got to be kidding me? You really did?" He was absolutely stunned. He knew she could do it but now that she had it was absolutely just...well he had no words for it. "Tiamat you're amazing!"
~I think we have company but Tia hasn't called us over so it must be a private conversation for now. Either that or she's just letting us eat first.~ Aleiko remarked as he went back to pursuit of the bird that had escaped his jaws. This time he caught it.
