DO NOT EVER do the following things. We understand they were not directly mentioned in the rules thread, but all of us here felt it highly important to put up a thread. So without further ado... the DND's.
- Do not Advertise all over the site. If you want us to join your site, join ours out of respect. The 'guest chat' section is the place for advertisement if you must (directed to guests). However, do not expect all members to jump up and join.
- Do not put one sentence under information in the bios. The 'other' and 'history' is very important to character development! While I personally prefer to do character development solely within the RP's, new members are not permitted to do so. Admin characters are well known and have been used on the site in the book and/or the site since the beginning. We do not know your characters. Give them a worthwhile introduction. I remind you, bios are your first impression. Make it good.
- Do not post more than once on bios. It takes us a while. If we tell you to edit something, then edit it. PM us to tell us you've edited it. We'll get to the bios.
- Do not post more than two bios for a dragon at one time. It takes time for staff to really go over what has been placed into a bio. Give them the time they need. Wait for it. If they don't get to it after 7 days, give myself or another major admin (Ultra Dragon) a PM. Plus, bios cannot be worth looking at if they do not take time to think up.
- Do not expect to be made staff right away. If we do not know you (which takes about a year on DW of RPing and proving you can handle it), we will not be open to you. You have to give yourself a good frontal approach.
- Do not manipulate plots on existent threads. Plots exist for a reason. They're important to the site. Even on 'other' RPing sections it is important to follow what others have started. If it isn't your thread, you're not in control.
- Do not argue with staff. There is a reason they are not normal members besides fancy titles and the ability to do things. They have proven themselves to go beyond what is asked. They do their job. They therefore have earned what is called 'the final say'. If they tell you a bio is not accepted then is is not. Please edit what they tell you to and then ask again.
- Do not send important information (such as an absence) over the c-box! People chat so much there that things get lost. If you tell us you were grounded on Monday and then leave, coming back a week later, we may think you have disappeared. Over the course of that week, people chat. Staff members may not have the time to see your notice. Please post it in the 'absences' board.
-Do not use bold print, italics, or any other form of punctuation when speaking except for quotation marks. I didn't think I would ever have to clearly outline the use of proper English in roleplaying, but here I am doing so. Some sites permit the use of these instead of quotes and periods rather than 'stale' and 'old' even 'stiff' quotation marks. I remind all that this is the ONLY punctuation I will except. If you cannot seem to get a good post I will post on your thread and remind you of what you have done wrong so you can improve. I'm not trying to be mean but rather attempting to keep my site's literary status up. :Fury: 10/10/08
-Do not use improper synonyms. The use of 'orbs' in substitution for 'eyes' is WRONG. I suppose many will argue it's in the Thesaurus or something but I don't like it. If you want to use a synonym-ruled sentence then substitute out other words. I expect 'eyes', 'ears', and 'legs' to remain instead of 'orbs', 'audits', and 'pillars'. An orb is a round spherical magic object (that's not an eye o.O), an audit is what I consider to be a technical way of listening like a speaker or microphone related, and a pillar is not a leg it is a stiff stone thing that holds up buildings. :Fury: 10/10/08
If any Staff members have something to add to the DND's, please add to it. Make sure you replace the 'updated' date and notify everyone of the update to them. If you add something also be sure you place ':Yourname: date here' after the entry. If you simply add something to an existing rule then do not place that there, just send a notice out about minor updates.
Thank you. Please do your best not to break the rules. If you need to refer back to them as well as the DND's they're both here. They are created as a guide for site conduct.
